Hi Everyone!

Welcome to Around My Neck, an alternate reality web series, for lack of a better word, that will challenge the conventional ways we watch our shows. Our aim is to deliver a fully interactive viewing style for your entertainment. The show is built on the foundation of social media with the sole purpose of bridging the gap between the story teller and the audience. Our team of talent is here to deliver the newest form of entertainment as they take story telling to the next level.

The trend is already beginning to emerge. You can follow your favorite Office characters on twitter. The WWE capitalizes on youtube to bring additional value added content. But is this using a social media platform to it’s fullest potential?

I read this article on Mashable a long while back. I had to spend a few minutes remembering what it was called in order to bring up the article. The article was written by, Mark ‘Rizzn’ Hopkins. He quoted Bryan Eisenberg.

“The biggest problem I have with the term “social media” is that it isn’t media in the traditional sense. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and all the others I don’t have the word count to mention aren’t media; they are platforms for interaction and networking. All the traditional media — print, broadcast, search, and so on — provide platforms for delivery of ads near and around relevant content. Social media are platforms for interaction and relationships, not content and ads.”

With this comes the answer. The social media platforms are not meant to be used as another channel to disseminate information. It’s a place you go to build valuable relationships. Look at it like a coffee shop where you can meet random people and learn a thing or two from them. Social media is meant to work the same, yet it is done in a virtual environment. The reach is incomprehensible. Some view it as another channel to deliver more content. Yeah that is pretty cool. It’s great to get an update from a twitter account that lets me know when my favorite show will come on next. It’s cool that they throw movie quotes at me on facebook. Awesome! However, the most important part about it is feedback. You have the potential of hearing what millions upon millions of people feel about your show, your characters, and the story. If you can listen to them and accommodate their needs, your shows, films, and any sort of entertainment can only get better.

There needs to be a relationship between the characters and the audience. A channel powered by the structure of social media that allows the audience to empathize and communicate with the characters. A blend of reality and fantasy as entertainment, rather than a one way viewing stream. Not just content or quotes from the characters, but an actual interaction. These social media platforms facilitate and make possible these interactions, which occur in real time. Audience tweets may change a character’s action in a later episode. A picture found on a character’s webpage may cause controversy that the other characters overlook, but the vigilant audience may notice.

In order to bring the Around My Neck characters to life, you can reach out to them on twitter, foursquare, youtube, and as we progress, other social media outlets. Get to know the characters and let share your experiences with them. Imagine sending a tweet to a character from your favorite show and effecting the outcome of a future episode. Imagine getting to know more and more about each of your characters with extra content that is not provided in the episode. Now imagine intertwining these characters with the fabrics of society where they can interact with real people and businesses. Again a blend of fantasy and reality leads to the ultimate visual entertainment experience with the flow of ideas traveling seamlessly from story teller, to the listener, back to the story teller, and again to the listener. It is a constant feedback loop that adds value to the story.. We all have stories to share and technology has made it possible to share them together. In short, Our mission is to bring you the most interactive storytelling experience. Through innovation and utilizing the latest platforms of an evolving social media structure, we make it a priority to find any possible means to listen to our audience. Follow and trust the true fans.

This is not a tv series. This is not a web series. We bring you the first in a line of  IN-VU series programming. I’d like to welcome you to Around My Neck. Embark on the journey with us.
